Christianity, as it has become in its organized and institutionalized state, presents the good citizen as its model. So long as society is itself ignorant of where it is going wrong in its appraisal of the nature of man and mesmerized by institutional prestige while neglectful of inner light, so long ought its demand for conformity to be treated with cold reserve, asserted the Taoist sages.
